Hi! I'm an illustrator, designer and storyteller currently located in the bump on the right side of my head. I do enjoy the view from here. The slope of my nose seems very queer. I love eating and sleeping and creating strange things, playing pranks and breaking things. I can be moody and very fierce, take away my coffee and I'll be in tears, So if you aren't scared and fancy a chat, I promise to reply and not be a brat.
On a more serious note, I'm a visual communication designer currently located in Calcutta, India. My primary interests lie with illustrating, designing, printmaking, sculpting and experimenting with alternative story telling methods. I've worked on multiple projects with book publishers and design studios. I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to illustrate books for stalwarts like Gulzar and Ruskin Bond. 'Samay Ka Khatola" by Gulzar, published by Harper Collins and Ruskin Bond's biography 'Great Lives: Ruskin Bond', published by Scholastic Books have been some of my recent works. I've also worked and published other books with Scholastic Books (Scholastic Book of Gods and Goddesses, Eid Stories, Diwali Stories, Christmas Stories), Harper Collins Children's Books (Festival Stories, 2019 Planner), Pratham Books (I'm Not Afraid, 2013), Karadi Tales (The Dragon's Toothache, 2015). My work has been exhibited in international platforms like AFCC, Singapore, Bologna Children's Book Fair etc. In 2019, I published my first solo project with Scholastic Books, 'Cool Crafts with Rayika' , a DIY crafts series! I've also been the head of graphic design for a company that made educational /DIY toys (Wonderboxx) and I now run my own figurine studio (gofigurebyrayikasen) amidst numerous graphic design projects.
My CV is available on request and please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries. My email address is: [email protected]
